Born in Hastings, Minnesota, Bill Sieben was the sixth generation of Siebens raised by a family steeped in Minnesota law and politics for over a century. Bill completed his undergraduate in 1973 at St. Cloud State University before receiving his J.D. in 1977 from William Mitchell College of Law.
In 1977, Bill was admitted to the Minnesota State Bar, the Court of Appeals (D.C.), and the District Court in Minnesota. He started practicing law by working with Vice President Walter Mondale. After working with some of the best attorneys and politicians, Bill joined his family firm, Schwebel, Goetz & Sieben, in 1980.
While working at the firm, Bill received multi-million dollar settlements for his injured clients. He specializes in personal injury law, especially car accidents, plane accidents, truck accidents, product defects, and wrongful death. Some of his top settlements include:
- $5 million – A high school student suffering from permanent injuries from a theater accident.
- $4.5 million – A college student suffering from permanent injuries due to product defects.
- $2.1 million – An elderly suffering from spinal injuries from a slip and fall accident at the mall
Bill is an exclusive member of the International Society of Barristers, which only has 800 attorneys worldwide, and is part of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Some of his achievements and awards over the years include:

Bill was the co-lead counsel for Braun v. Walmart, a record-setting multi-million dollar class-action lawsuit. He represented 56,000 Walmart employees who were experiencing bad working conditions and settled the case for $54 million.
Besides working as an attorney for over 30 years, Bill lives an active life yet remains dedicated to serving his community. He has served the Regina Hospital Foundation and worked as a youth hockey coach, high school debate judge, and community volunteer. He and his wife actively support law students with disabilities at the William Mitchell College of Law by providing a scholarship fund.
