Section 5: Illuminated signaling lights
Article R412-29

   The luminous signal lights regulating the movement of vehicles are green, yellow or red. The yellow and red traffic lights may be flashing.

Article R412-30

Any driver must mark an absolute stop in front of a red, fixed or flashing traffic light.
The stop is done by respecting the limit of a line perpendicular to the axis of the traffic lane. When this stop line is not marked on the roadway, it is located directly above the traffic light or before the pedestrian crossing when there is one.
When a cycle path crossing the roadway is parallel and contiguous to a passage reserved for pedestrians whose crossing is regulated by illuminated signaling lights, any driver using this track is required, in the absence of specific signaling, to obey the signaling lights. regulating the crossing of the roadway by pedestrians.
The fact, for any driver, of contravening the provisions of this article is punished by the fine provided for the contraventions of the fourth class.
Anyone guilty of this offense also incurs the additional penalty of suspension, for a period of three years at most, of the driving license, this suspension being able to be limited to driving outside professional activity.
This contravention automatically gives rise to a reduction of four points of the driving license.

Article R412-31

   Any driver must stop in front of a fixed yellow signal light, except in the case where, when the said light comes on, the driver can no longer stop his vehicle in sufficient safety conditions.
The fact, for any driver, of contravening the provisions of this article is punished by the fine provided for the contraventions of the second class.

Article R412-32

   The purpose of flashing yellow warning lights is to draw the attention of any driver to a particular danger.
They authorize the passage of vehicles subject, where applicable, to compliance with the provisions relating to the priority rules established by this code or prescribed by special signage.

Article R412-33

   Green traffic lights allow vehicles to pass, provided, in intersections, that the driver does not engage unless his vehicle is not at risk of being immobilized and preventing the passage of other vehicles traveling on the transverse lanes.
